India expands vaccination drive as cases surge

India has opened up its immunisation drive to anyone above the age of 45 even as the country reported the biggest single jump in confirmed cases in six months on Thursday.

The country has administered 64 million doses so far and exported nearly as many vaccine doses.

UNICEF confirms delays in India vaccine deliveries

UNICEF has confirmed that India will likely delay deliveries of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine doses to the WHO-backed COVAX facility for March and April.

Sources in the Indian government say while the country is not banning the export of COVID19 vaccines, it is prioritising domestic requirements and that New Delhi will honour existing contracts in a phased manner.
