Xi Jinping Warns US to be Clear-Eyed About Taiwan


Chinese leader Xi Jinping has warned the US to be clear-eyed about Taiwan,

and said that China remains staunchly committed to resisting interference by external forces.

Tensions over the self-ruled island were front and centre as Xi spoke with US President Joe Biden in a closely watched call.

North Korea threatens South with annihilation

North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un says the South Korean government and its military will face annihilation if they start a confrontation.

The remarks follow the 69th anniversary of the armistice of the Korean War and Seoul's new hard-line stance on the North's missile tests.

Japan hit by record-setting seventh Covid-19 wave

Japan has been hit by a massive seventh Covid-19 wave.

Record daily numbers have been reported in 14 prefectures.

Japan's most populated western prefecture of Osaka, is set to raise its coronavirus alert to the highest level.

S. Korea's SK Group announces $22 billion investment in US

South Korea's SK Group has announced an additional $22 billion in investments in the United States in a rare meeting with US President Joe Biden.

The company had previously outlined major funding plans in the country through the end of the decade.

Japan carries out death sentence for Akihabara mass murderer

A man convicted of killing seven people in an indiscriminate rampage in Tokyo in 2008, was executed on Tuesday.

This marks the second hanging ordered by the current government of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

China Says it's "Seriously Prepared" if Pelosi Visits Taiwan


China has delivered yet another stern warning to the US about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's proposed visit to Taiwan.

China Lobbying to Block UN Report on Xinjiang

Japan plans Abe state funeral for September amid criticism

The Japanese government will hold a state funeral for former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the end of September.  

Abe was fatally shot earlier this month on the campaign trail in an incident that has  shocked the nation.

Figure skating champ Yuzuru Hanyu expected to retire

Figure skating champion Yuzuru Hanyu is expected to retire, according to sources cited in Japanese media. 

The two-time Olympic gold medallist is widely considered to be one of the greatest male skaters of all time.
