UN calls for halt to East Ghouta bombardment

The United Nations Secretary-General says he is "deeply alarmed" by
the increased bombardment of civilians in the Syria's Eastern Ghouta
suburb.

Government forces and their allies have intensified attacks on the
rebel-held area where 400,000 people are under siege.
