Japan PM candidates calling for defense spending hike

Candidates hoping to become Japan's next prime minister have joined calls for an increase in defense spending beyond the current cap of 1% of GDP.  Responding to China's growing assertiveness in the East and South China Seas isa key focus of the election campaigns.
