Ukraine, Russia agree to begin disengagement in disputed Donbass

At the trilateral contact group meeting held in Minsk on Tuesday, Ukraine and Russia have agreed to sign a pact that will pave the way for disengagement of troops in the disputed Donbass region.

Both sides have agreed to the Steinmeier formula- proposed by former German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier- that proposes a cease-fire in the region and a withdrawal of troops followed by local elections.
