Indian government cracks down on fake news

For the first time ever, the Indian government has outlined a procedure whereby it plans to penalise those propagating fake news.

The government says anyone found writing or endorsing fake news will lose their accreditation.

This has led to outrage from Indian journalists- with many calling this a 'gag order', and questioning why this only targets the print and broadcast media but leaves out digital platforms.
