ROK military 'monitoring' missile base cited in new research

U.S. media have reported about secret expansion at a North Korean missile base. But Seoul officials say they're well aware of this key facility in the North.

South Korea's military says it's been closely monitoring the North Korean missile base with the U.S.

But it refused to comment further about news reports.

Citing a U.S. research institute, CNN reported satellite imagery shows the base has been active before and after this year's summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong-un.

The report says the base could house long-range missiles capable of striking the U.S.

North Korea has never promised this year to fully halt its weapons development.

But analysts suggest the report could undermine Washington's faith in Kim that he'll eventually give up his nuclear weapons.
